Cognitive Sovereignty Self-Audit for Military Officers
This audit measures whether AI systems are replacing your tactical and operational judgement or supporting it. Your answers show where you may be deferring decisions that require your command experience.
Before you see the AI output, write down your initial threat assessment or operational recommendation. Then compare it to the system output. Track where you diverge and why.
Deliberately maintain one intelligence analysis or planning task that you do without AI tools each month. This preserves your ability to recognise gaps in AI-generated analysis.
In operations with autonomous systems, define explicit decision gates where you personally authorise actions, even if the system can act independently. Document your reasoning for each decision.
When an AI system misses a threat or pattern, investigate whether your experience spotted something the system was not trained on. Brief this back to your intelligence team as a failure mode, not a user error.
Ask your operations team to show you the alternative courses of action the AI rejected, not just the top recommendation. This prevents you from accepting narrow AI-generated choice sets as complete options.
