AI systems in military operations create a specific danger: your operational experience becomes invisible when you defer to algorithmic recommendations under time pressure. Moral responsibility for lethal decisions gets diffused across the chain when AI sits between you and the choice. This checklist helps you stay the decision maker, not the system's executor.
Tool names in this checklist are examples. If you use different software, the same principle applies. Check what is relevant to your workflow, mark what is not applicable, and ignore the rest.

- When time pressure increases, your critical assessment often decreases. This is when you most need the pause step. The best commanders slow down when stakes rise.
- Ask your intelligence officers what they would brief you without the AI system. If they cannot answer, the system owns your analysis instead of serving it.
- One false alarm from the AI system that you acted on costs you credibility with your unit. Document every overrule so you can show your judgement was better than the algorithm's.
