How to use these questions
Before trusting any AI recommendation for your learning strategy, ask a senior practitioner in that domain whether the recommendation includes the foundational skills that experts actually need. AI tools cannot value what they cannot see in training data.
Create a simple template for your team to use when evaluating AI-generated learning content. Ask three questions: What skill does this teach? Can someone perform without AI? What happens if the AI output is wrong? If you cannot answer all three clearly, redesign the content.
Separate your measurement of AI proficiency from your measurement of domain expertise. You need both metrics. High AI proficiency with low domain expertise means your people can use tools but cannot judge when tools are wrong.
When you introduce an AI tool that automates part of your people's work, build a 'foundational skills' cohort into your training programme. These are people who learn how the work was done before AI so your organisation retains the knowledge even if most people use AI.
Document what your organisation considers critical thinking in each domain, then check whether your learning programmes actually teach people to think that way or only teach them to delegate thinking to AI. This conversation with your subject matter experts is more important than any tool configuration.
