Cognitive Sovereignty Self-Audit for Product Managers
This audit measures whether AI tools are replacing your direct contact with user research or smoothing over the details that should change your decisions. Your score shows how much your product strategy still depends on your own reading of customer behaviour.
Before you accept any AI ranking of features, identify which customer pain point each top three item solves. If you cannot answer from memory, the ranking may not match reality.
Set a rule: never present strategy built only on AI-summarised research. Always include one finding that came from you reading raw data or talking to a customer.
When an AI tool tells you a feature is low priority, ask it what customer behaviour it is using as proof. Then find that behaviour in the original interviews yourself.
Monthly, pick one research summary from your AI tool and spend 30 minutes reading the source interviews. Track what the AI flattened or missed. This trains you to read AI output more critically.
Keep a notebook of customer conversations outside your research programme. When AI suggests a direction that contradicts these notes, trust your notes first. That is your real data.
